George Van Buskirk

George J. "Van" Van Buskirk, 68, of Williams Township, PA, passed away Friday, May 13, 2016 in Hunterdon Medical Center. Born June 27, 1947, in Easton, PA, he was a son of the late George J. Van Buskirk, Sr. and Grace Rissmiller Rittenhouse. He and his wife, the former Barbara A. Smith, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on July 3, 2015. Van was last employed by Smith Motors, Washington, NJ. Previously, he was the owner and operator of Van's Service Center, Williams Township for 33 years. He graduated from Easton High School Class of 1965. Van enjoyed yard work and vacationing and was an avid Phillies fan. He had been a member and former president of Varsity W of Wilson High School and coached baseball for Williams Township Midget and Pee-Wee programs. Surviving in addition to his wife, Barbara, are two sons, Michael J. and his wife Sharon, of Tamaqua, PA and Steven G. and his wife, Debra, of Pottsville, PA; two daughters, Julieann Young, of Easton and Maryann Van Buskirk, at home; a brother, Kenneth Rittenhouse, of Kunkletown, PA; two sisters, Melinda Dunn and her husband Paul, of Danbury, CT and Susan Muhr, of Bangor, PA and seven grandchildren, Megan, Brittany, Sean, Dylan, Ashley, Tyler and Luke. Calling hours will be held from 3-5pm Thursday in the Williams Township Fire Company, 2500 Morgan Hill Rd., Easton, followed by a Celebration of Life at 5pm.
